Saw 3D (Saw VII) - 2010

This is supposed to be the final chapter in the Saw series. The concept is as always; People getting punished for their crimes with horrible traps and games. Still, the story does not rapidly alter in strange new ways, like in the other movies.

The "traps/game" story largely concerns Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery), a survivor of Jigsaw who is being truly tested after being kidnapped after a promotional appearance for his book, which details how he survived and how it changed his life. Like Jeff from III or William from VI, his game often requires him to hurt himself to prevent the trapped person from dying, a method that usually fails. But the similarities to those superior films renders a lot of this stuff sort of dull, because his test is more about Jigsaw getting back at him rather than something that might improve his life, and thus less dramatically satisfying. Jeff and William were flawed individuals, Bobby's just a spineless jerk.

This movie brings a lot of new factors into the series. It contains some humor, which have been gone from the series for quite a while. The traps are new and exiting. And they fit perfect into the 3D effects. Saw 3D opens a new door in the Saw series with original thinking and a good story.

Trailer: Fast Five (The Fast And The Furious 5)

This is the trailer to Fast Five. It is to be released on April 29, 2011. The movie is directed and edited by Justin Lin. Watch the vid and tell me what you think :)

The Expendables - 2010

Things begin promisingly. Stallone plays Barney Ross, the leader of a band of mercenaries who long ago sold human compassion for a price. The CIA wants to make Barney its bitch by hiring his crew to infiltrate a South American island and take out despicable General Garza (David Zayas) and the cocaine kingpin financing his reign of terror. The big setup scene has no action, just Stallone doing verbal battle in a church with two suited-up honchos, Mr. Die Hard and the Governator of California. It's just one scene, so I won't spoil the juicy fun of it. But watching Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Willis together brings back the satisfying stupidity of the 1980s, when planet Hollywood meant action movies with no shame about blowing shit up.

The Expendables is a hardcore action movie, packed full with explosions, guns, and fighting. It is expendable.

Inception - 2010

This movie is what I call a brainteaser. The idea of our dreams, and how we can affect them is a serious matter, because it can have fatal consequenses. With some equipement, you can break into someones dream. The idea of inception is complex. A dream within a dream is a unstable process. But a dream within a dream within another dream seems impossible. However, it is the only was to perform inception; to plant a seed of an idea inside someones mind. If you fail, you will be thrown into limbo.

Cobb(Leonardo DeCaprio) would do anything to get his family back. And one day the opportunity is there. Saito(Ken Watanbe) promises that he can help him. All he want in return is that Cobb performs inception.

Red - 2011

Red (Retired Extremly Dangerous) is a movie with wide spectre of well knowed actors. The concept is good, and the action is stunning. But still I feel like it could be better. However, there is no lack of action, explosions or gun fights. But among this, there is also some humor in certain situations.

Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) is a retired agent for the CIA. He spends his days ripping his pension checks, so that he could flirt with his representative, Sarah (Mary Louise-Parker). He lives a quiet life, until someone puts out a hit on him. One night, a special ops squad comes to his appartment to silence him forever, only to discover that Frank Moses are not to be messed with. Frank runs, in fear that they would kill Sarah if they discover their connection. It's time to get the team back together.

Red is a movie that builds you up to a big finish, only to find out that the ending was not as good as you imagined. Still, this is a good action movie, that deliveres what a action movie should.
